Preparation reminders

Please prepare for your vasectomy by observing the following tips.

  • Watch the pre-procedure video  on the learn more page if you haven’t yet, or if it’s been some time since you first watched it.
  • Avoid aspirin-type products (aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil), naproxen (Alleve)) for 5 days prior to vasectomy. These may thin your blood and make you bleed more easily. It is OK to take acetaminophen (Tylenol) if you need something for pain.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes in advance so we can take care of the payment. You can pay by credit card (including an HSA card) or cash.
  • Shave 2-3 days before the procedure. This video gives a simple approach.
  • If you’re using pre-procedure medication, pick it up now so that we can problem solve if there are pharmacy issues. You’ll need a driver if you’re using this.
  • Wear your compression shorts to the appointment. If you haven’t bought these yet, Wal Mart usually carries them and they are in the gym aisle (with weights, basketballs, etc.).
  • Wear a mask to the appointment
  • Shower before you come to the appointment
  • If you are planning to submit the expense to your insurance for reimbursement or so that it is applied to your deductible, call your insurance in advance. Use the information available HERE (under Pricing) when you talk to insurance.
  • If you develop symptoms of Covid (fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough, chest pain, trouble breathing, loss of sense of smell) or you or somebody in your household tests positive for Covid, please call us to reschedule or discuss a plan.
